Note from Sara:  A special thanks to Dr. Bruce Hirsch for sending us his thoughts on staying safe in the hospital.
An informed patient is a safer patient.
As an infectious disease specialist, I want my patients and families to know the benefits of treatment, the prevention strategies to avoid infections, and the importance of nutrition, rest and rehabilitation after an illness.
Antibiotics are powerful tools to fight infections: however, there are side effects, alterations in healthy bacteria of the body, increased risk of resistance and Cdiff.
Being informed allows one to work closely with the professionals to get the best results.
